Graston Technique in Burlington

What is Graston Technique?

Graston Technique is an Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Technique designed to detect and break down scar tissue, myofascial restrictions and adhesions in the muscles/tendons.

Effective in treating conditions such as:

  • Sprains/strains
  • Tendinitis/Tendinosis
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Golfers and Tennis Elbow
  • Knee/Hip pain.

How does it work?

The Graston Technique instruments are guided over the body to find areas of fibrotic or scarred tissue. The instruments break up the scar tissue so it can be absorbed by the body.

Why is it done?

Untreated scar tissue can adhere to the fascia, muscles, tendons and ligaments affecting function, ROM and cause pain. Graston Technique can repair/restore these soft tissues to their pain-free, normal function.

How does it feel?

During the treatment the patient will feel a “grittiness” in the tissues as the instrument is used to break down restricted tissue. The treatment itself is generally not painful, although with some injuries, mild to moderate tenderness may be felt both during/after treatment and some mild bruising can occur. These are normal responses to healing and does not affect your daily activities.
