What is the Webster Technique?

When a baby is breeched, the Webster Technique is 80% effective in allowing the baby to turn. The Webster Technique helps to restore proper pelvic balance and function during pregnancy and promotes positive changes in baby positioning.

This technique utilizes gentle adjustments to alleviate tension in the muscles and ligaments; with a specific focus on the round ligaments, which are constantly under stress while supporting the growing baby. As the baby grows, these ligaments stretch and become tighter. Increased tension on these ligaments can lead to restricted movement for the baby keeping them in the breeched position and causing pain on either side of the abdomen or pubic bone. Alleviating the tension in these ligaments promotes unrestricted movement allowing the baby to turn into the “head down” position, and in turn alleviates pain experienced by mom.
